BAS: Building Automation System; controls and software used to monitor and operate building systems such as HVAC, lighting and other connected equipment.
BICSI: A professional association serving the information and communications technology profession, including telecommunications and ICT infrastructure design and installation practices.

C

Capability: A company’s demonstrated ability to perform or support a specific type of work. In Scope Verified, capabilities can be associated with a defined scope and supporting evidence.
Company Confirmed: A Scope Verified status indicating profile or scope information has been confirmed by the company but has not necessarily reached evidence-backed Verified Scope status.
CSI MasterFormat: A standardized system for organizing construction specifications and work results into numbered divisions used across the North American construction industry.

DCIM: Data Centre Infrastructure Management; software and operational tools used to monitor and manage data-centre facilities, capacity, power, cooling and infrastructure.
Delivery Role: How a company participates in delivering a scope. Scope Verified roles include Designs, Consults, Manufactures, Supplies, Installs, Integrates, Commissions and Maintains.
DFMA: Design for Manufacture and Assembly; an approach that considers efficient manufacturing, prefabrication and assembly during design.
Discipline: A broad professional or delivery area in the Scope Verified taxonomy, such as Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Architecture or Telecommunications / ICT Engineering.

EPMS: Electrical Power Monitoring System; a system used to monitor electrical distribution, power quality, consumption and critical electrical infrastructure.
Evidence: Reviewable documentation used to support a company claim, scope, credential or project experience record.

FF&E: Furniture, Fixtures and Equipment; movable or semi-movable items specified or procured for a completed space.
Freshness: A signal describing how recently information or supporting evidence was reviewed. Scope Verified may label records Current, Review Due, Stale or Not Reviewed.

GPON: Gigabit Passive Optical Network; a passive optical networking architecture used to distribute network connectivity over fibre.

I

ICAT: Information, Communications and Automation Technology; a term commonly used for integrated low-voltage, communications, security, audiovisual and building-technology systems.
ICT: Information and Communications Technology; in buildings this commonly includes telecommunications, network and structured cabling infrastructure.
IoT: Internet of Things; connected devices and sensors that exchange data and can support building monitoring, automation and analytics.

Listed: The baseline Scope Verified directory status for company information used for discovery before company confirmation or evidence-backed scope verification.

O

OT Network: Operational Technology network; network infrastructure used by building, industrial or facility systems such as controls, automation and monitoring.

P

Project Signal: An observable event or update that may indicate project timing, stage, team activity, procurement activity or another change relevant to opportunity intelligence.
Provider Role: The type of company you need for a scope based on how it participates in the work. Scope Verified provider roles are Designer, Consultant, Manufacturer, Supplier, Installer, Integrator, Commissioning Provider and Service / Maintenance Provider.

R

RTLS: Real-Time Location System; technology used to locate or track people, equipment or assets within a facility or campus.

S

Scope: The specific work, system, service or product being searched, delivered or evaluated. Examples include structured cabling, access control, data-centre cooling and raised access flooring.
Scope Family: A browse grouping that organizes related scopes into a recognizable building or construction domain, such as Communications / ICT, Electrical, Smart Buildings or Mechanical / HVAC.
Structured Cabling: A standardized telecommunications cabling system supporting data, voice, wireless, security, audiovisual and other connected building applications.

T

Trust Score: A Scope Verified evaluation signal intended to summarize evidence, verification, relevance, freshness and other trust factors. It is not a guarantee of project performance.

V

Verified Project Review: A moderated review tied to a stated project relationship and project context. It is separate from scope verification.
Verified Scope: A specific company scope supported by evidence reviewed by Scope Verified. Verification is scope-specific rather than a blanket verification of the entire company.

Z

Zonal Cabling: A structured cabling approach that distributes telecommunications connections through consolidation or zone points closer to device areas, supporting flexible moves, adds and changes.
